The Mountaineering Club of Heraklion is organising an excursion to the Limnakaro Plateau on Good Friday, April 18, 2025.
In their announcement they say:
"In this easy hiking route on the Limnakaro Plateau in Lassithi, we combine the blossoming spring landscape with the traditional decoration of the Epitaphios.
We will start from the village of Avrakontes, in the Lassithi Plateau, and hike up to the Limnakaro Plateau, where, together with many locals from the surrounding area, we will take part in the decoration of the Epitaphios at the small chapel of Agio Pnevma (Holy Spirit)."
This is an easy hike, suitable for beginner hikers and children.
