For the protection of Chrissi Island, from May 1st to October 31st, 2025, the disembarkation of visitors on the island is strictly prohibited from all types of vessels. Only specific beaches, which have been legally designated, will remain accessible under certain conditions.

Access to the island’s interior is completely forbidden, especially entry into the strictly protected dune zone — an area of rare juniper forest (Juniperus spp.) known locally as kedrodasos (cedar forest), part of this precious protected ecosystem.

Safety measures within the surrounding sea area are regulated by the Port Authority of Ierapetra, while the guarding and protection of the island's forest environment and wildlife refuge fall under the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment, with the Forest Service and OFYPEKA (Natural Environment & Climate Change Organization) enforcing these rules.

In the event of violations during inspections by the competent authorities, penalties will be imposed in accordance with the applicable legal framework.

It is also important to note that the beaches of Pelegrina and Vourgiou Mati on Chrissi are excluded from any concession for the simple use of the shore and beach for the period 2023-2025.

As a result, there will be no infrastructure or visitor services available on the island during this time.
