Starting Point: Agia Galini

In the summer, Agia Galini is bustling with visitors, drawn by its stunning beaches, just like much of southern Crete.

Dive into crystal-clear waters and take a stroll to the Cave of Daedalus, where history blends with myth in the most fascinating way.

A 30-Minute Drive to Spili

After soaking up the sun and sea, your day will take a cultural turn. In just 30 minutes by car, you’ll head inland to the village of Spili.

This vibrant "kephalohori" (a large, important village) has produced some of Crete’s finest musicians and is a gateway to many hiking trails. It’s also full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

One such gem is the Folklore Museum, lovingly created by the village women.

Here, you’ll get a glimpse of life before modern conveniences—see how households functioned without refrigerators!

The Famous Springs of Spili

Spili’s most famous attraction is its "Kefalovrisi" fountain, located in the village square under the shade of plane trees. The fountain, with its 25 lion-head spouts, gushes with cool, refreshing water straight from the mountains.

This is a perfect spot to relax, grab a coffee, or enjoy a traditional meal at one of the local tavernas.

Traditional Flavors at "O Raftis"

For an authentic experience, we recommend visiting the "O Raftis" kafeneio (traditional café). Here, you can enjoy a glass of raki and traditional meze, all in a setting that gives a nostalgic nod to the village’s past, with the café's decor reminiscent of an old tailor’s shop.
