On Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos is organising a circular hike through the Katsikandaras ravine, near Kalo Chorio.

The route is described as follows:
"We start from Pyrgos in Kalo Chorio, where we see the Watermill and the Mármara (Marbles). Then we pass through the small Katsikandaras Gorge, which has running water all year round, and take the old footpath to Prina, full of wildflowers this time of year and offering views over the Mirabello Bay.

We ascend to the hill of Xivouni, where the Church of the Holy Cross (Timios Stavros) stands. We return to Pyrgos via the same old path. It's a very scenic route that brings together many different features of the Lassithi landscape. The trail is easy and accessible even for less experienced walkers."

DEPARTURE: from Agios Nikolaos (K. Karamanli 23, Vasilopoulos Supermarket), Sunday morning at 8:00. We’ll travel to the area using our own cars.
