Avrakontes Village: Unique Architecture and More

Tradition and culture are intertwined in the village of Avrakontes (or Avrakonte for the locals).
The settlement is situated on a plateau, on the northern slopes of Mt Dikti (Lassithi), in close proximity to Dikteon Andron.
The renowned E4 European Path traverses through the village, originating from the west and then veering southwards, guiding hikers to the Limnakaros Plateau and the summit of Mt Dikti, which stands at an elevation of 2,148 metres. Furthermore, by following it westward, and passing through the village of Psychro, one can reach the ancient sacred site of Dikteon Andron.
If you visit in August, you have the opportunity to participate in the courgette festival held during the fasting period.
