Kafeneio Karampoutze: Authentic, Mountainous Crete on a Plate!

In the mountainous village of Krousonas in the Malevizi municipality, right above the central square of the village near the patron saint, Saint Charalambos, you will find the Kafeneio Karampoutze*.
Here, you will enjoy dishes of genuine Cretan cuisine in a welcoming environment.
You can order wine, raki, or beer, and the café staff will serve you exquisite meze, cooked dishes, and mix grill. If you want to lick your fingers, try the pilaf with boiled mutton, the lemon is plentiful, and the meat is tender enough to cut with a fork!
The price is fixed: 15 euros per person.
"A day's wage is enough, we are good. Thank God," says the owner, Mr. Manolis Kokologiannakis, about the prices.
*The name Karampoutze came from the grandfather of the current owner, he was a blond and called him Karampoutze, the kara means black and the mpoutzes means black currant.
