Giannis Klinakis Art Hall

ABOUT

Marathos, a mountainous village in the Malevizi Municipality, is worth a visit for its traditional charm. In the village square, you’ll find the Giannis Klinakis Art Hall, a space that holds deep cultural and emotional significance.

According to the Malevizi Municipality, the hall features a collection of sculptures created by the talented artist, which he gifted to his village shortly before his passing.

The hall is housed in a building that once served as the village olive press, generously provided by the Marathos Agricultural Cooperative.

In 1985, Giannis Klinakis used this space to erect a memorial of his works in copper. The installation is a tribute to the Fallen Heroes and the National Resistance, inspired by searing memories from his childhood. On August 21, 1944, German forces executed his father and six other villagers, leaving an indelible mark on the artist's soul.

You can visit the art hall by appointment. Contact: +30 2810 521051 or +30 6977 585 529.
