Nikos Boultadakis Café: In the Picture-Perfect Village of Prases
ABOUT
Along the provincial road from Chania to Sougia, you’ll come across the village of Prases, known for hosting the Chestnut Festival every autumn. Right on the village square—where there’s ample space to park your car—you’ll find the Nikos Boultadakis Café.
Make a stop here to taste some truly authentic Cretan flavours: fried kalitsounia, lamb with homemade staka, or with wild stamnagathi.
A large part of the ingredients used comes from the Boultadakis family’s own production—they are both livestock farmers and cultivators. Even the wild greens are foraged by the family themselves in the Omalos region.
Prases is a great stop on your way back from a swim in Sougia if you’re in the mood for something local and traditional.
