Maleme Beach: Smooth Pebbles and Refreshingly Clear Waters

Situated within the Platanias Municipality, Maleme is a historic village located 17 kilometres from the heart of Chania. This village, rich with history, stands as one of Crete's significant locales. 

A mere two kilometres away from the village centre, a splendid beach unveils itself, adorned with sandy stretches, delicate pebbles, and the refreshing clarity of cold waters. Perched atop the hill overlooking Maleme Beach lies the German Cemetery, a resting place for 4,500 German soldiers who perished during World War II. Nearby, by the shores of Maleme Beach, an astonishing discovery was made – a vaulted tomb dating back to the Late Minoan Period.
