Ierapetra Mosque
ABOUT
The mosque of Ierapetra is located in the area of Kato Mera.
It is a square building with a wooden, four-pitched roof covered with tiles.
The minaret, following the customary design, stands in the northwest corner of the mosque. Its upper portion collapsed during the earthquake of 1953.
Ottoman Fountain
According to the Municipality of Ierapetra, to the southwest of the mosque stands a fountain that served as a purification fountain before the entrance of the faithful to the mosque. This octagonal building is crowned with a dome roof and was constructed with stones of various sizes.
