Neraidogoula Cave

ABOUT

The Cave of Neraidogoula, situated north of Metaxochori at a high altitude, presents an inexplicable phenomenon that has yet to be fully understood.

During certain periods in August, the cave experiences a remarkable phenomenon where immense volumes of water surge from its depths. This sudden outpouring floods the Psoriaris river and often leads to significant damage. It is speculated that this unique characteristic of the cave, giving rise to abundant water like a spring, may have led to its being named ‘Neraidogoula’, which translates to ‘Spring of Fairy’.
