Theriospilios Cave
ABOUT
The Theriospilios cave descends 50 metres underground.
It has a total length of 44 metres, a maximum width of 25 metres and a height of 0.5 – 7 metres.
Below the Theriospilios Cave, there is a steep coastal area, adding to the dramatic landscape of the location.
To the northeast of Theriospilios Cave, there is the steep coast of Spathi too Chomata, which offers a picturesque view of layers of phyllites, squamous crystalline limestones, and dolomites.
Beyond the entrance of Theriospilios, there is a low vestibule measuring approximately 7 metres by 8 metres. The main hall follows, spanning an impressive length of 37 metres, width of 25 metres, and varying heights between 1.6 to 7 metres. The hall features a slight downward slope, creating an interesting terrain for exploration. The interior of the hall is adorned with rich and diverse rock formations, and makes an excellent impression on the visitor.
As you venture deeper into Theriospilios, you'll encounter a mesmerising sight of small and large columns dispersed throughout the cave.
