ABOUT
Starting from the village of Mythi, you’ll follow a path that runs parallel to the riverbed, surrounded by tall reeds and blooming oleanders. Soon, the imposing rock walls close in, guiding you into the narrow section of the gorge. Here, you’ll find yourself wading through the cool waters of the Kryopotamos River, which flows through the canyon year-round and eventually empties into the seaside village of Mirtos.
Along the way, you might need to scramble up rocks with the help of ropes and handholds or climb over massive boulders carved with steps. The route is dotted with small but picturesque waterfalls and natural pools, creating the perfect spots to pause and take in the scenery. The gorge varies in width from 3 to 10 meters, with towering walls reaching up to 150 meters high, adding to the dramatic atmosphere.
After making your way through the gorge, you’ll return via a circular route, taking a dirt road up to the asphalt and eventually arriving back at the starting point.
