Toplou Monastery Winery: Crafting Exceptional Quality Wines
ABOUT
The Holy Monastery of Panagia Akrotiriani and St. John the Theologian, Toplou, in Sitia has always produced wine for the needs of the church, for friends, and for social and religious events. The poor, dry, and windswept areas around the monastery are ideal for cultivating vineyards.
This is a modern winery in the regional unit of Lasithi, with extensive experience in viticulture and winemaking.
The winery offers guided tours in both Greek and English, covering the vineyards, the museum, and the winemaking area, ending in the tasting room. Here, wine tastings are held, accompanied by traditional Cretan delicacies like graviera cheese and paximadi (Cretan rusks).
Visitors also have access to nearby attractions and can visit the Holy Monastery of Toplou.
