Vamos, one of the picturesque villages in Apokoronas, offers a range of dining options. If you’re a fan of tradition and want to taste Crete on a plate, head to Sterna tou Bloumosifi.

Once a café run by Bloumosifis (a dark-complexioned man named Sifis), the taverna is now managed by Mr. Spyros Frantzesakis. Its name honors the original owner and the cistern ("sterna") in the area.

Don’t miss the chestnut stew with mushrooms, made with locally sourced chestnuts from Chania. Other must-try dishes include lamb shank slow-cooked in a wood oven and goat with stamnagathi (wild greens).

Nearby, you’ll find charming villages, numerous attractions, and beaches like Almyrida and Kalyves, perfect for exploring after your meal.
