Vamos village: Τhe olive oil path

Starting from the small village of Vamos in Apokoronas, Chania, you will embark on a beautiful walk during which you will learn about olive oil.

The first stop is at the olive grove of a local farmer who uses organic farming methods. Here, you will have the opportunity to walk among the olive trees planted by his father and learn about the methods and challenges of olive tree cultivation. Next, you will enjoy a tasting of his excellent olive oil at the small house located within the olive grove.

After that, you will head to the nearby olive mill of the Melissakis family. There, you will learn about modern olive oil extraction methods and participate in a second tasting. Finally, you will discover cosmetics based on olive oil!

The next stop is the Monastery of St. George, an impressive architectural monument, and the historic village of Vafes with its well-preserved old olive mill, where you will see the tough working conditions of another era.

At Stavroula’s traditional restaurant, you will enjoy a delicious lunch with local recipes and ingredients from her own garden.
