Cross the Therissos Gorge!

Therissos Gorge is an easily accessible natural wonder, just a stone's throw from Chania city. Located 6 kilometers south of Chania, between the villages of Perivolia and Therissos, this small gorge stretches about 9 kilometers in length and 15-250 meters in width, yet it rivals larger gorges in its beauty.

At the wide entrance, it is surrounded by orange groves and vineyards, while its narrower sections are enclosed by steep cliffs, plane trees, and oleanders. The gorge is home to rich endemic flora and fauna, providing refuge for some endangered species. A road runs through the gorge, leading to the historic and heroic village of Therissos and connecting the city with the White Mountains.
