The Springs of Agios Mamas Supply Water to Sampas
ABOUT
The small rural settlement of Sampas is located at an altitude of 330 metres. In 2021, it suffered significant damage due to an earthquake that struck the area.
Nearby is the Holy Monastery of Agarathos, where visitors can also admire its ecclesiastical museum.
In the picturesque village of Sampas, you can find a remarkable Byzantine frescoed church dedicated to Panagia Zoodochos Pigi, located on the western side of the settlement.
Also of interest is the charming small chapel of Saint Nicholas, dating from the same period.
Today, the village’s residents are mainly engaged in viticulture and olive cultivation, producing fine olive oil, sultanas, and grapes.
The village sources its water from the springs of Agios Mamas.
