Gialiskari: A Beloved Beach of Hippie Era Nostalgia
ABOUT
Situated at the convergence of the Anidri (Anydri) Gorge, this beach forms a picturesque complex consisting of three distinct sections. Two of these beach areas gracefully extend along either side of a scenic peninsula, offering visitors a diverse and captivating coastal experience.
These remarkable beaches boast small pebbles and crystal-clear deep waters. All three beaches are equipped with convenient amenities for beachgoers. Continuing eastward, the third beach, named Ammoudia, offers a slightly different atmosphere. Although less equipped than its counterparts, Ammoudia boasts coarse sand and equally mesmerising crystal-clear waters.
The area surrounding the beaches features vegetation, with a few tamarisk trees scattered away from the shoreline.
In the 1970s, Gialiskari beach gained popularity among hippies, who would freely camp and enjoy its tranquil ambiance.
Access to these beaches is possible via a dirt road located to the east of Paleochora.
