Platanos: Local flavors under the shade of the plane tree in Kandanos
ABOUT
At the “Platanos” tavern in Kandanos, you’ll savor top-notch traditional dishes under the shade of a majestic plane tree. The tree provides coolness during the summer, creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere.
In this picturesque village surrounded by endless olive groves, the menu is filled with classic dishes made with quality ingredients, just like grandma used to make.
The tavern has both indoor and outdoor seating, but we recommend sitting outside to enjoy their standout dish: boureki.
Don’t miss the kalitsounia, the fragrant stuffed zucchini flowers, and the succulent grilled meats.
Platanos also serves its own wine, and one of its greatest assets is the exceptional hospitality.
The tavern is run by two brothers, Stelios and Apostolos. Stelios oversees the kitchen, while Apostolos ensures that service is warm and welcoming. Both are friendly and eager to make your visit unforgettable.
Portions are generous, and the complimentary dessert is a pleasant surprise: a refreshing fruit salad and warm Sfakian pie drizzled with honey!

The tip of Local!
Before you leave Kandanos, visit the Church of Agia Anna in Anisaraki. Inside, you’ll marvel at the rare depiction of Saint Anna nursing the Virgin Mary.
