Discovering Lissos Gorge: Connecting Sougia with the Ancient City

The route is quite straightforward and takes approximately one to one and a half hours, following the E4 European Path that goes through the gorge. The gorge is surrounded by tall rocks and lush vegetation, with abundant plant life like dittany and pine trees.

The original section of the gorge is known as Skevroto, meaning ‘tilted’, likely due to the steep incline of its towering rocks. At the gorge's exit, you'll come across the Temple of Asclepius, featuring a mosaic floor. The temple boasted thermal baths for the treatment of illnesses.

Ancient Lissos boasts scattered ruins, ancient tombs, and a Roman-era theatre. Moreover, the site includes the church of Agios Kirikos, which was constructed on the grounds of an early Christian church dating back to the 4^th-5^th century.
