South Crete Safari: Psiloritis Safari: A Journey from Matala

The journey to Psiloritis commences from the outset of the South Crete Safari in Matala, commencing at 9 am. En route, you will traverse through the villages of Pitsidia, Petrokefali, and Mires, ultimately reaching the charming traditional hamlet of Zaros.

Your initial halt will be at Lake Votomos at Zaros, where you can enjoy a brief respite and partake in a leisurely stroll around the lake, taking in the picturesque surroundings.

Following a captivating 70-minute traverse through this breath-taking terrain, you will arrive at the Nida Plateau.

Your journey proceeds to the Skinakas Observatory. Following your visit to the Rouvas Forest, you commence your descent, treating yourself to awe-inspiring vistas, and proceed towards the Faneromeni Dam.

Continuing your journey, you traverse the villages of Faneromeni and Vori, ascending the hill towards the archaeological site of Phaistos.
