Martsalo Beach
ABOUT
Martsalo Beach is a stunning destination, and a stop here is simply essential! The path leading to the beach is rugged and difficult in some parts, so you’ll need to be cautious. Alternatively, you can reach it by boat from Kaloi Limenes.
The beach is nestled at the mouth of the Martsalo Gorge, which, like other gorges in the area, has long served as a hermitage for the nearby Odigitria Monastery. Due to this, the area is considered a historic site of significant religious importance.
As you explore the gorge, you’ll notice remnants of the cells where hermits once lived, including the cell of Saints Eumenios and Parthenios, who later re-established the Monastery of Koudoumas.
