Kokkini Ammos (Red Sand) Beach
ABOUT
This is a remote beach located just a short distance from the famous Matala. If you decide to visit, be prepared for a 15-minute walk from Matala, with certain parts of the path requiring extra caution. Alternatively, you can take a small boat from Matala’s port.
Upon arrival, you'll find that the beach, named after its striking red sand, offers only a few umbrellas. It’s not an organized beach, and while there is a small canteen, it's not always open. It's a good idea to bring your own supplies.
Keep in mind that strong winds often sweep through the area, so swimming should be done with care.
