Starting in February 2025, the public will have the chance to take guided tours of the Heraklion Cultural and Conference Center (P.S.K.I.), a landmark building and a jewel in Greece’s cultural landscape. These tours will not only reveal the fascinating history of the center but also allow participants to explore areas typically off-limits to the public.

Meet the Experts

The tours will be led by two experts:

  • Michalis Konios, architect and engineer.
  • Apostolos Kalaitzakis, engineer specializing in audiovisual and theatrical systems and advisor to the Center’s Artistic Productions Technical Support Department.

First Tour: February 3, 2025

The inaugural tour, conducted by Apostolos Kalaitzakis, will take place on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. It will begin with an audiovisual presentation, followed by a guided walkthrough of accessible parts of the Center. Participants will learn about:

  • The building's infrastructure.
  • Technical requirements for artistic productions.
  • Acoustic design and stage mechanics.
  • Sound, projection, and theatrical lighting systems.

Second Tour: February 5, 2025

The next scheduled tour, led by Michalis Konios, will occur on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This tour will focus on the Center's conceptualization and construction, covering:

  • The origins of the project, from its inception in 1979 to the start of construction in 2006 and its completion in September 2019.
  • The contributors who brought the idea to life and carried out its execution.
  • Key project dimensions and insights into the operation of this impressive cultural complex.
