Arismari and Varsamo is more than just a tavern – it’s a family-run business built with love and passion for traditional Cretan cuisine. At Arismari and Varsamo, the menu features Cretan recipes based on local meats, carefully selected for their quality, and fresh vegetables.
Many of the vegetables come from the family’s own garden or local Cretan producers. The freshness and flavor of the ingredients are the foundation for the preparation of the dishes, which are always accompanied by the warmth of Cretan hospitality.
At Arismari and Varsamo, each meal is an opportunity to savor the tradition and authentic flavors of Crete. Don’t miss the chance to try the Sfakian gamopilafo, prepared with two types of broth—chicken and lamb—and enriched with stakovoutyro (traditional Cretan butter). Also, indulge in the amazing antikristo, lovingly made by the owner, and the authentic Chaniotiko kreatotourta (meat pie).
The menu also includes other special dishes, such as handmade apaki (smoked pork) and expertly crafted dolmadakia (stuffed grape leaves) made by the owner’s wife using leaves from their own pesticide-free vineyard.
At Arismari and Varsamo, every dish is prepared with exceptional extra virgin olive oil, produced by the family, adding unique flavor and aroma to the recipes. At the end of your meal, you’ll be treated to orange halva, chocolate pie with ice cream, fresh fruit, and raki! The raki, sourced from the family’s own still, is yet another element of Cretan hospitality and tradition.

The restaurant’s sommelier will guide you in selecting the perfect wine to complement and enhance your dish. You can also admire part of the wine cellar, displayed as a work of art on the restaurant’s wall.
Arismari and Varsamo is a warm and welcoming place, recently renovated to offer guests even more comfort and character. The walls are adorned with natural stone, giving the restaurant a traditional and authentic feel.
