ABOUT
With its picturesque landscape and wild beauty, along with a relatively moderate level of difficulty, the descent of Imbros is ideal for families with children (providing they have appropriate equipment like hiking boots).
The primary entrance of the Imbros Gorge, known as Porolago or Porofarago, is located near the village of the same name at an altitude of 700 metres. However, there are other access points near the tavernas.
A part of the E4 path passes through the Imbros Gorge, offering a captivating trekking experience. The most awe-inspiring section is Stenada, where the towering rocks reach a height of 300 metres, with their walls narrowing to around 1.5 metres. At the end of the route, visitors can access the road network leading to Frangokastello or Sfakia.
The Imbros Gorge stretches for 9 kilometres, and the journey through it typically takes around 2.5 hours.
