The ‘Locked’ Cave of Asfendos
ABOUT
The cave “of Asfentos” is situated at the position”Skordolakia”, at the westeastern part of the beginning of the gorge of Asfentos .
It is a rock-shelter, on the limestone floor of which, near the entrance, there are cave paintings that depict animals, an arrow, a tree, a ship, a triangle, javelins or oars and abstract symbols. The themes and the engraving style have led researchers to date them in the prehistoric times.
