Asimenia Ceramics: Create your own ceramic masterpiece!

ABOUT

If you're looking for an inspiring hands-on adventure in Crete, head to Asimenia Ceramics in the charming village of Margarites, just 27 km from Rethymno.

At this traditional ceramics workshop, Manolis Drosakis, a third-generation potter, and his mother, Asimenia, warmly welcome visitors into the world of pottery and creative craftsmanship.

Margarites, often called the "Village of Pitharades" (Potters), boasts a rich pottery tradition thanks to its naturally clay-rich soil, ideal for crafting beautiful ceramic works.

In their spacious workshop, you'll get to admire magnificent antique pithoi crafted by Manolis' grandfather, which remain in excellent condition to this day. As you explore the space, you'll learn about the ancient techniques of pottery-making and the properties of clay.

Watch mesmerizing demonstrations of wheel-throwing and hand-sculpting, followed by glazing and kiln-firing processes.

Want to get creative yourself? Choose from practical or decorative ceramics, or even try painting pre-made pieces with vibrant, heat-resistant colors.

The visit is completely free—an artistic journey you won't want to miss!
