ABOUT

In the picturesque Amari Valley, the village of Nithavri hides many treasures, and one of them is Adamogiannis Tavern. Run by Yiannis Androulidakis and his wife, Chrysoula, this humble eatery has gained fame for an unexpectedly simple yet irresistible dish: fried potatoes.

What makes them so special? While the owners reveal that the potatoes are lightly floured before frying, the rest of the recipe remains a closely guarded secret. The result? Golden, crispy perfection on the outside and soft, fluffy goodness on the inside. Remarkably, these fries stay delicious even when cold!

Beyond the fries, Adamogiannis serves an array of local specialties, including succulent grilled meats and traditional meze, best enjoyed with a glass of raki.

Nithavri offers more than just great food. Nearby, you’ll find charming guesthouses, and within a short drive, archaeological sites like Monastiraki and Apodoulou await exploration. The village also serves as a gateway to southern Crete, with Agia Galini’s stunning beaches just a drive away. Alternatively, a 30-minute journey will take you to the historic Arkadi Monastery.
