Platanos, Amari: Visit and Enjoy the View!
ABOUT
In the narrow alleys of Platanos, visitors can discover a few traditional houses from past centuries which, though now in ruins, still retain their charm.
In the small village square, there are traditional kafeneia for true aficionados — and you’ll find quite a few more within the settlement. Further west, along the main road that runs through the village, in the area of Palia Vrysi, you’ll see the large plane tree and the old fountain with running water. Across from the village’s war memorial, a small square has been created where children often gather to play.
Just outside Platanos, you’ll find the small chapel of Prophet Elias, featuring a tiny bell crafted from part of a bomb dropped in the area during WWII — a bomb that never exploded. The chapel celebrates on July 20th.
