Zakros Natural History Museum
ABOUT
The Natural History Museum of Zakros is located on the main road that crosses Epano Zakros, on the ground floor of the Polykentro building. The Museum is dedicated to the characteristics of the Natural Environment of the Geopark. Through small representations of habitats (dioramas), showcases, stuffed animals, rocks, fossils and posters, the special elements of the flora, fauna and geology of the area are presented.
The visitor has the opportunity to get all the printed materials of the Geopark, to watch the video about the Geopark of Sitia and to browse through the internet the website of the Geopark and the European and World Geoparks of UNESCO.
It is open daily from May to October. In winter, it hosts school tours by appointment only.
