Vatsiana: The Southernmost Village in Europe!

ABOUT

Vatsiana, the tiny village at the southernmost inhabited point of Gavdos — and of all Europe, is a destination unlike any other.
Here, among old stone-built houses, most of them now abandoned, time seems to have come to a standstill. Despite the handful of permanent residents, the charm of the place remains untouched.

A standout feature is the Folklore Museum, the creation of Papa-Manolis Bikogiannakis, the island’s priest and a passionate writer. With heartfelt dedication, he gathered and preserved objects from daily life and folk art. Inside the museum, you'll find vividly coloured textiles, handmade utensils, old tools, and brassware — items that tell the story of this place and its people.

Visiting Vatsiana is a rare experience, perfect for those seeking authenticity and a deep connection with the roots of Greek culture.
