Gavdos Lighthouse
ABOUT
The Gavdos Lighthouse is constructed south of the settlement Ambelos at an altitude of 370 metres.
It stands as one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Crete, having been bombed in 1942 but subsequently restored.
Constructed in 1880 by the French lighthouse company, it is visible from every part of the island. Surrounding it are buildings that served as warehouses and homes for the lighthouse keepers.
Within, there is an exhibition focused on lighthouses.
