Potamos Beach, on the northwest coast of Gavdos, is considered by many to be the island’s most stunning beach.
With its wide stretch of golden sand and a length of about 600 metres, it offers peace, seclusion, and a perfect escape into unspoiled nature.

Getting there means a 2.5-kilometre hike from the village of Ampelos, along a well-marked trail. The return is uphill and with limited shade, but the views toward Gavdopoula and the pine forests brushing the coastline are more than worth it.

Set in a small bay, the beach has shallow waters, the occasional wave, and offers natural shade under the juniper trees. You might even encounter a few of the area’s devoted nature lovers who call this remote spot home.
