The Fragrance of Sage Permeates the Village of Nivritos!
ABOUT
Nestled at the southern base of Mt Ambelakia, Nivritos is a small village where the scent of sage fills the air. In addition to tending to olive groves and livestock, the villagers are actively involved in harvesting the aromatic plant sage.
This picturesque village, adorned with a magnificent plane tree in Piso Vrisi, offers a tranquil and beautiful setting.
The community comes alive on 8th September, marking the festive celebration of the village church, Panagia.
A must-visit is the chapel of Agios Methodios, nestled in a cave at Kalives. The saint, who lived as an ascetic in the cave, has a significant connection to the village. During the Turkish occupation, part of the saint's relics were relocated to the Holy Monastery of Epanosifi, where they remain today.
