Siva: A Picturesque Village of Heraklion
ABOUT
Siva, nestled at an altitude of 280 metres, is situated 18.2 km along the Heraklion – Messara road.
The area's inhabitants are primarily involved in viticulture and olive cultivation.
Siva's cultural association is lively, hosting numerous events throughout the year.
The village is home to several churches, including Agios Georgios within the village, and Panagia, Agia Paraskevi, Agios Ioannis, and Agios Georgios Livadiotis.
In the 19th century, notably during the Cretan revolutions, the village's historical significance is underscored by the presence of Captain Ainikoliotis, hailing from the settlement of Agios Nikolaos in the Charakas area, who played a pivotal role during the 1866 revolution.
It's worth noting that the village lacks cafés and convenience stores; instead, it boasts ancient Venetian-style structures.
