Pastry History Museum
ABOUT
Just a stone’s throw from the center of Heraklion, the Pastry Museum showcases 232 rare exhibits, including a hand-operated flour mill from 1875 and a 1913 handwritten recipe penned with quill and ink by a family from Constantinople.
The collection features rare electric ice cream machines from 1935, antique metal chocolate molds, and pre-war handcrafted pastry and chocolate-making tools. Visitors can also admire pre-war weight scales measuring in okas and drams, as well as rare documentaries from the 1950s and 1960s about the art of pastry-making.
Among the museum’s highlights are egg glaze and sugar paintings and a 1900 ice-cooled refrigerator. Additionally, there are tributes to legendary pastry chefs who left their mark on the profession.
