Kyparissi: Renowned for its Meze
ABOUT
The residents extend a warm welcome to all who visit Kyparissi.
The area is celebrated for its cafés, tavernas, and rakı distillation parties.
The village is situated at an elevation of 220 metres, offering picturesque views along the 22nd kilometre of the road leading to Profitis Elias (Ilias). The local inhabitants are primarily engaged in the cultivation of olives and grapes. In a quarry, an accidental discovery was made: a tomb dating back to the early neolithic period, hidden within a rock cavity. Additionally, a large rectangular structure was excavated on the hill known as ‘Korfi tou Vathia’.
The village hosts the Church of Agios Panteleimonas, and its current inhabitants trace their roots back to Anogia and Mylopotamos.
In addition to its main centre, the Kyparissi Community encompasses the settlements of Galeni, Kalos, Karkadiotissa, and Roukani.
