Krousonas: A Village of Delightful Wonders
ABOUT
The residents of Krousonas, aside from ‘mantinades’ (Cretan folk poetry) and celebrations, showcase a profound passion. The village holds a rich history and tradition, and notably, it is the birthplace of the first women's agricultural cooperative in Heraklion, founded in 1999, named 'Krousaniotissa'.
In Krousonas today, several businesses operate, including cafés, traditional tavernas, clothing shops, shoe shops, and more.
Historical churches, archaeological sites, and unique natural wonders, such as the Monastery of Agia Irini, remain unchanged over time.
The Meadow of Krousonas, adorned with thousands of apple trees and untamed beauty, adds the finishing touch to the picturesque landscape of the village.
Throughout the year, the Krousonas Cultural Association NEA GENIA organizes events that entertain both the young and old. Additionally, there are traditional Cretan dance events.
