Gavalochori: Adding Vibrancy to Apokoronas
ABOUT
Gavalochori is a unique traditional village, home to around 400 residents, and it boasts several intriguing places to explore.
Approximately 5 kilometres beyond the village, on the road to Vamos, you'll encounter three Roman tombs. In the village square, you can find a shop called the 'Women's Cooperative of the Village.' Inside, there are beautiful needlework items like fabrics, lace, clothing, and a wide variety of decorative household items.
The Gavalochori Folklore Museum resides close to the square in an ancient building adorned with Venetian and Turkish influences. This structure has undergone meticulous renovation, thanks to public funding.
Enjoy the village's pleasant ambiance with charming cafés and tavernas serving delectable food. Gavalochori also provides two mini-markets and a bakery for your convenience.
