The Lilac wonder (Tulipa doerfleri) is an endemic species of Crete, specifically thriving in the region of Rethymno. Its largest populations are concentrated on the small plateau of Gious Kampos in Rethymno.

Primarily due to the deep ploughing in the cultivated fields where it thrives, the Likac wonder is classified as an endangered species and has been granted protection by presidential decree since 1981.

This herbaceous plant features a bulb with leathery tunics containing internal hairs. The stem reaches a height of 10-30 cm, and the leaves are slender and linear. The flowers boast 6 distinct, dark red, spatula-shaped petals, measuring 30-50 mm. The outer petals are smaller with a greenish tint at the base, while the inner ones are larger with a dark spot at the base.
