The Mountaineering Club of Heraklion (EOS Heraklion) is organizing an important event for mountain enthusiasts. On Saturday, January 18, 2025, the club will offer a brief practical training session for experienced hikers interested in venturing into winter mountaineering.

Weather and snow conditions permitting, the session will include demonstrations and hands-on practice with winter mountaineering equipment, focusing on safe ascents in snowy terrain. The training will likely take place at Lakkos tou Mygerou on the northern slopes of Psiloritis, depending on the quantity and quality of the snow.

Participants should have basic winter gear (winter boots, gaiters, jackets, etc.), while specialized equipment (crampons, ice axes) will be provided by the club in order of priority.

  • Leader: Fontas Spinthakis
  • Meeting Point: Archaeological Museum of Heraklion at 7:00 AM.
