Adventure & Action

Looking for something out of the ordinary this Christmas? How about spending the holidays in a mountain refuge? Two of Crete’s refuges are ready to welcome visitors in a festive atmosphere.

Unique Holidays at Prinos Refuge

Celebrate the festive season at Prinos Refuge! Perched at 1,080 meters above sea level, this mountain haven is the property of the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion. Located above Ano Asites, it offers breathtaking views of villages, mountains, the city, and the Gulf of Heraklion—especially at sunrise.

Prinos Refuge will be open from December 22, 2024, to January 6, 2025. Its warm, inviting atmosphere—complete with a crackling wood stove and a steaming pot of tea—will welcome day-trippers and overnight guests alike. Short hikes in the surrounding winter wonderland are an excellent way to stretch your legs and breathe in the crisp, clean mountain air.
