Pnevmatikakis Winery: Wine Museum and Wine Tasting in Drapanias
ABOUT
In the region of Kissamos, with a long-standing tradition in viticulture and winemaking, the Pnevmatakis Winery offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Cretan wine and tsikoudia (the island’s signature spirit).
Here, you’ll get a guided tour through the production and storage areas, as well as the bottling facility, before stepping into the winery's charming stone cellar.
The winery takes pride in cultivating and promoting local grape varieties. Carefully grown and hand-selected red grapes include Romeiko, Kotsifali, and Liatiko. For white wines, Vilana, Vidiano, Plyto, White Romeiko, and Moschato Spinas take center stage. International varieties also play a role, with reds like Cabernet, Syrah, and Merlot, alongside white Chardonnay, uniquely shaped by Crete's distinctive climate and terrain.
The production features a wide range of wines, from robust reds to dry whites, delicate rosés, semi-dry and semi-sweet varieties, as well as luscious dessert wines. Several labels even blend two or three grape varieties for a more complex flavor profile.
At the Wine Museum, you’ll discover exhibits showcasing the art of viticulture, winemaking, and glimpses into the daily life of previous generations on the island.
Finally, indulge in a wine-tasting session on the winery’s veranda, where you can savor their exquisite wines while taking in the stunning view of Kissamos Bay. Cheers to that!
