ABOUT
Peratostrata, an age-old route in Crete, once served as a vital connection between the eastern Messara region and the province of Viannos. It originated from the Galatas and Arkalochori areas, traversed the settlement of Rousochoria, passed beneath the village of Nipiditos and the mountain's prominent ridge, and then extended towards the Embaros basin. From there, it diverged towards various destinations, including the revered Cave of Psychro, the expansive plateau of Lassithi, or the sacred sanctuaries of Simi, Mirtos (or Myrtos), and Ierapetra.
The Minoan trail, once frequented by ancient civilizations, now serves as a popular route for tourist caravans.
