Panagia Theogennitoros Monastery

The Holy Monastery of Panagia Theogennitoros, founded in 2006, is situated in Mochos. The view of the sea from there is truly unique!

The main church of the monastery is a three-aisled basilica. The central aisle is dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, while the south aisle is dedicated to Agios Mamas and the north aisle to Agios Dimitrios.

A few metres past the church entrance, you'll find the ‘Archontariki’ (reception area), and below it, the iconography workshop, wardrobe, and mosaic workshop where various exhibits are crafted. Across from the Archontariki is the exhibition space, with the library, calligraphy room, and tailor's workshop situated above it. Adjacent to the workshops, and above them, are the monks' cells. Towards the east lie the warehouse and altar, while the main church stands at the heart of the monastery.
