Karteros Gorge
ABOUT
The Karteros Gorge (Astrakiano) is situated within a broader geological complex that is part of the larger Ecological Park of Yiouchtas in Archanes.
This gorge is one of the largest in the region, covering a total distance of approximately 12.5 kilometres. It commences from the village of Kato Astraki and meanders across the mainland, concluding in Karteros. The gorge is adorned with lush vegetation, and the Karteros River flows through its green bed and along the entire route.

In this area, you'll also find Neraidospilios (Neraidospilio), a cave with a spring inside.
Close to Neraidospilios, along the road, you'll come across the remains of a church dedicated to Agios Georgios (St George).
The gorge is well-suited for both hiking and cycling enthusiasts.
At the exit of the Karteros Gorge, in the area known as Mesa Karteros, you'll find an information centre and a resting area for visitors.
