Dia may be a small island, but it's steeped in history! Located just across from Heraklion, a stone's throw from the Kokini area in the Municipality of Hersonissos, this island offers a unique glimpse into Crete’s natural and historical treasures.
You might even spot the legendary Cretan wild goat, the kri-kri, roaming its rugged terrain. Many local companies offer day trips to Dia, departing either from Heraklion's port or the marina at Gouves.
Notably, the renowned oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau conducted research here, uncovering shipwrecks dating back from the Minoan era to modern times!
