Mochos: A Unique Musical Tradition

The festivities organised in Mochos are truly remarkable and draw in crowds from the neighbouring areas.

The central square of Mochos, adorned with trees and paved pathways, is the gathering place for the locals. Standing tall in the square is the magnificent two-aisled Church of the Annunciation and Agia Paraskevi. Traditional cafés and tavernas in the area serve authentic Cretan dishes, bursting with local flavours.

Visitors can stroll through the picturesque, narrow alleys of the village, marvelling at the houses of Cretan architecture and the well-preserved historic churches. The surroundings are a testament to the village's rustic beauty.

The village of Mochos bestowed honorary citizenship upon Olof Palme, the beloved Swedish Prime Minister.

The listed monuments in the village include a community-owned building and the local fountain-cistern, both recognised for their historical significance.
